Ingredients
  

Ingredients (Batter): 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/2 cup whole milk, 1/3 cup melted butter, 1 tsp vanilla
Ingredients (Topping): 1 cup brown sugar packed, 1 cup toasted chopped pecans, 1 3/4 cups hot water, 1/4 cup maple syrup, 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Equipment

  • 1  9x13 inch baking dish,
  • 2 Mixing bowls
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 rubber spatula

Method
 

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 9x13 inch baking dish.
    Whisk batter ingredients together until smooth. Pour into dish, spread evenly.
      Scatter toasted pecans over batter. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over pecans.
        Whisk hot water and maple syrup together. Pour slowly and evenly over entire dish. Do not stir.
          Bake 35 to 40 minutes until golden and bubbling at edges.
            Rest 10 minutes before serving warm.
