Ingredients
  

1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple in juice, undrained
1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix, dry
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, thinly sliced

Equipment

  • 1 9x13 inch baking dish (ceramic or glass preferred)
  • 1 Can opener
  • 1 Sharp knife for slicing butter

Method
 

Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
    Spread crushed pineapple with juice across the bottom of the dish.
      Spoon cherry pie filling over the pineapple layer. Do not mix.
        Pour dry cake mix evenly over the fruit and smooth gently.
          Cover the surface completely with thin butter slices.
            Bake 45 to 50 minutes until golden brown and bubbling at the edges.
              Rest 10 minutes before serving.
